Wielding only a garden spade and a steak knife, Nina Lennon, of Morris, carves a life-sized angel out of a snow mound in her front yard Wednesday on Wauponsee Street in Morris. Lennon, a painter and occasional sculptor, got the idea while her and her husband were shoveling their driveway and clearing away the snow. In addition to the angel, she carved a mermaid last week out of the little snow that had fallen. Lennon commented that when she usually creates a sculpture it's on a much smaller scale. While carving the angel Wednesday morning, several drivers were attracted by Lennon's work and slowed to admire the detailed snow angel. One driver even honked and gave a thumbs up. Lennon was very humble and surprised at the reactions she was getting.
